I have been tagged for the first time! It feels really special. :D Thanks to Museditions for tagging me and thanks to sulz for starting this whole thing and tagging Museditions! Cos as a result, the Domino effect has gotten me! That means I get to post seven random facts about me AND I finally get to write something in this oh-so-very lonely blog of mine after soooooo many days.

Ok, we’ll get to the most important Me part in a while. But first of all, let’s get to know the rules of the game as set by Sulz!

  • Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
  • Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
  • Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog (surely you read this blog often enough to know you’re tagged!

And Cjwriter (tagged by Sulz) changed the rule a bit. And I think I will follow suite! Here is his version:

“[...] I’m going to open this up to anyone who wants to steal it (or has blogger’s block) - on one condition. Feel free to take it, but please include a link to FreeRice.Com on your blog, which is a great new site I found out about from ellaella and sulz. It’s a vocabulary quiz which is sponsored by some of the world’s biggest companies (Apple, American Express, Toshiba); for every question you get right, the companies provide funds to buy 10 grains of rice to feed the hungry. Definitely an initiative I can get behind. And if you wanted to mention it in a post, or with the tag, that would be a wonderful way to show your support too.”

OK, now we get to the part we are all waiting for! Seven random things about me (in no particular order)…

  1. I can get high on ideas.
  2. Although I am a certified photojournalist, the issues that move and shake the world don’t mean as much to me as do the little things.
  3. I can detect spontaneous visual accidents on the fly.
  4. I hate housework
  5. I think I was born weird. People (both online and offline) adjectify me as weird. Even quiz results say so! I used to get teased a lot for it in school and so I used to feel bad about it. But now I am kinda proud. Sure, other notable girls get to be sexy or rich. But not many can be weird!! :D
  6. I am really fond of old clothing. They just feel so comfy! The older, the better!
  7. I am TERRIBLY afraid of height, which is a shame. If it were not for my acrophobia, I would probably think of climbing the Himalayas at least once in my life. Sigh, dream away!

OK, that’s enough of I, I, I. Now do something substantial - please go donate some grains by playing at Freerice!

I’m so glad you liked this, Sanjida! It’s scope is larger than I would have guessed!
#1 - Me too! The best!
#2 - interesting perspective. Life is in the details, what?
#3 - what are spontanious visual accidents? And why do they make me nervous?
#4 - oh, you won’t come and do mine, then?
#5- yeah! weirdos of the world unite!
#6 - oh, I’m going all snuggly just reading this.
# 7 - I am sorry about that. I used to have a fear of hights and windy roads. Am much better now.

2. sulz - November 12, 2007

meh, who loves housework?? oh i like old clothing too. i’d wear something over and over again until it wears out before i throw it away and miss it terribly.

there’s weird, but there’s also eccentric, idiosyncratic and quirky!

3. Netty Gritty - November 13, 2007

muse,
yes it’s been a wonderful experience.
and oh! i didn’t mean to make you nervous! spontaneous visual accidents are nothing to be afraid of! it’s just a made-up term i use to explain happenings before me. nobody knows what’s gonna hap’n next, right? well, visually speaking, you don’t know which colours, shapes etc are gonna make a beautiful composition (sometimes laden with meaning) right before your very eyes! well, when they do i can see them happening. i am taking snaps in my mind all the time!

sulz,
eccentric, idiosyncratic and quirky? would that be me?
about housework, well, there’s a difference between not liking and hating! :D and my mom LOVES housework! two of my uncles are also seen happily dusting, mopping, cleaning, repairing things etc. to them, housework doesn’t seem like housework! they actually seem to enjoy it!

4. sulz - November 13, 2007

i’d say you’re in between eccentric and quirky… a pleasant mix! ;)

your uncles? their wives must be so lucky then! haha…

5. cjwriter - November 13, 2007

Gotta say, for someone who hasn’t done a meme before, Sanjida, you’re a natural! These are fascinating. And thank you for supporting FreeRice. I’m addicted now, I can’t stop playing. ;)

Getting a good idea is like a drug, isn’t it? It just gets in your head and you can’t get it out until you’ve explored it. #2 was interesting too. From your blog, I’d developed this idea that you think of yourself more as an artist than a photojournalist, that whether it’s with paint or an image it’s art you’re looking to create. Based on that, #2 makes perfect sense to me; art is about representing the details of human life, and it’s the little things that make us who we are.

I love old clothing too; I’d much rather have a comfortable jacket and pair of jeans, it just feels cozier and more me. Can’t say I like ironing them much, though. :P And I agree with sulz; somewhere between eccentric and quirky suits you. I mean, who wants to be normal? It’s so boring. :)

6. Netty Gritty - November 13, 2007

sulz,
lucky, yeah! you could say that again! although i believe that should be the norm. i mean housework is here to stay. so why shouldn’t the male species contribute more instead of taking control of the tv remote or gawking over you-know-what in the internet?

cj,
cut out the flattery, will ya? i’m a natural, like, huh! how hard could it be, honestly? i was only talking about myself!

about art and photojournalism (well, let’s not get to the part about the art OF photojournalism!) the former deals with the universal aspect of life, while the latter deals with the particular, the historical. in that sense, photojournalism deals with more detail actually - but in a factual sort of way. 5 w’s and ih (in photojournalism) pinpoints a context in detail, with art you can even get away with untitled creations! but it’s the attitude that matters! no matter how different historical facts are, they all seem similar!

sometimes i want to be normal, so that i can be just another face in the crowd. i wonder what it feels like!

This was great to read! I never think of you as weird, just wonderfully unique. And Free Rice is fantastic! Grrrr…now I have to figure out how to put it on my sidebar. One hour of my life, down the tubes.

8. Netty Gritty - November 15, 2007

what a nice surprise!
i have moon here! :D

i’m so glad you liked this post! it felt kind of awkward talking about myself! like, picking out only seven points was tough!

if you ever have problems figuring out how to put stuff in your side bar, you can always ask me for help! that way, i will also get to learn about wonderful stuff from you!

9. moonbeammcqueen - November 15, 2007

I would love to have your expertise on the Free Rice thing. I keep thinking I’ve got the hang of adding items to my sidebar, but the information disappears from my brain each time I do it. It’s the URL part of it that gets me every time. I think I understand the picture part. I sound like I’m in kindergarten, huh?

10. museditions - November 16, 2007

NG, I struggled a bit with getting the url onto the button. I’m with moonbeam, I finally figure something like that out, and then, *poof* brainfreeze.

How are you during this storm? I have heard about the cyclone in your area, and hope you and your loved ones are OK. Sending you good thoughts…

11. Netty Gritty - November 17, 2007

moon,
i will help you get by, no problem! :D
sorry for my delay. there has been a countrywide blackout the whole day yesterday following a storm. and freerice is having some “troubles” as well! i will get on it as soon as freerice content is up again! meanwhile, choose the button that needs to be linked!

muse,
thanks for checking up on me! :D
hopefully we are ok.
if you want my help too, then choose the button and i will make the link for you too! :D

I’m checking up on you again! Where are you Sanjida? Haven’t seen you around bloggieland lately, and wondering how you are. I’ve read of the devastating aftereffects, and can only imagine what your country is going through. We miss you! Again, sending you good thoughts.
